Goodbye to an Old Friend and Hello to a New One

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Eight months, in fact. I received a medical diagnosis that is life altering, undergone surgeries and procedures (with a couple more coming up shortly) and come to terms with what future me has waiting for them. Everyone has, is, or will have to deal with something major in their life. That’s the way of it. This has, however, affected my ability to complete writing projects on my original projected timeline. Especially since my condition directly affected the feeling in my hands. The number of typos had increased significantly!
The other news that hit last fall was that my stalwart furry friend Ravioli was diagnosed with a heart condition. We tried every medicine and lifestyle recommendation from our fabulous vet staff. Sadly, Ravioli traveled across the rainbow bridge on Dec. 3, 2023. She is sorely missed. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be ready to have another dog companion. Dogs, however, have a way of healing hurts and on June 3, 2024, we welcomed another furry companion into our household. Her name is Rune. And while it may seem that I have a thing for naming pets ‘R’ names, I assure you it is a coincidence. Even our cat, Romulus, thinks so. Rune has been with us almost three months and is full of puppy antics. It’ll be fun to see what kind of adult she grows up to be.
Despite the many setbacks, I have finished T’elf, and it is in the publishing queue. That means a new short story will be on the website soon. It is about a side character named Tan and a bit of his origin story. There aren’t any spoilers for the book, and it will give you a deeper understanding of his relationships in the story. I hope you fall in love with Tan and all the characters in T’elf. I’ve had a lot of fun writing it.
Rune at 11 weeks.
