My puppy turned two years old a couple of months ago. It’s hard to believe how much time has passed so quickly. Raising her has required more of a time commitment than previous dogs I’ve had. She is a Dutch Shepherd and full of energy. Besides training for her job as my service dog, she has been training and competing in dog companion sports, obedience, and rally obedience. I’d never heard of these things until training her at the dog club we go to. I’ve seen agility on television now and again and, of course, the Westminster Conformation Show. It’s fun and nerve-wracking, and I highly recommend it if given an opportunity. She has certainly brought a lot of joy into my life and kept me very busy.

          She is the inspiration for Lux in the book True Sight, published in June 2026. As a matter of fact, at one point I realized I was TOO inspired and Lux was taking up a lot more space in the book than she should, and I had to cut out and rewrite several ‘dog’ scenes. I’ll certainly have to write a short story featuring Lux someday. I wrote a short story with the release of True Sight, and it is on the short story page. It is entitled Swamprat. Swamprat is a fun and intriguing character whose life was altered in the blink of an eye. Instead of accepting it and moving on, she railed against this senseless absurdity and, in doing so, changed the trajectory of her future.

          Hmm… maybe Swamprat and Lux should have a few adventures together?
